UPPER&Rome scored another great goal! #RomaGiocaSostenibile

Good things come in threes and after the successful initiative #RomaGiocaSostenibile for rugby and tennis events UPPER scored a great goal by teaming up again with project Living Lab Rome for the Italian Cup final

For the first time in Italy, a football event will be characterized by a focus on sustainability in all its aspects, resulting in a significant reduction in its environmental impact. The Frecciarossa Italian Cup Final, scheduled for today Wednesday 15 May from 9 pm at the Olympic Stadium between Atalanta and Juventus, will be the first football event in Italy conceived around sustainability in all its aspects. Lega Serie A , Sport e Salute and Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, aware of the significant social and environmental impact of sport and the importance of promoting and adopting sustainable practices, announce that they have signed a memorandum of understanding for the implementation of the “ROAD TO ZERO"

UPPER aims to strengthen the role of public transport as the cornerstone of sustainable and innovative mobility. The project will implement a combination of measures looking to push people out of private cars and to pull them closer to public transport in cities across Europe. Encouraging the use of public transport and active mobility measures can help alleviate congestion, reduce the environmental impact of transportation, and enhance overall transportation efficiency. It’s easy to see how travel to sporting events can get in the way of families on a peaceful weekend walk; how disruptive it is to neighbourhoods’ lives; and how it unnecessarily increases stress, traffic, and pollution. Lifting the pressure that sports games place on cities is therefore both possible and mandatory

“The Frecciarossa Italian Cup final, in addition to being a unique event and show for our city – commented the Councilor for Mobility of Rome Capital, Eugenio Patanè – from this edition it also represents a great sponsor for sustainable mobility and ecological transition. The objective of the 'Road to Zero' initiative, in fact, is to allow all spectators of the grand final to reach the stadium in a sustainable way. For this reason we have implemented a series of initiatives aimed at encouraging the use of public transport, including: free daily ticket for all fans who wish to use it, provided they obviously already have a ticket for the stadium ; extension of the timetable of all subways (A, B, B1 and C) until 1.30 am; strengthening of all public transport lines towards the Olympic stadium and shuttles dedicated to the transport of people with disabilities . I thank Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, signatory of the protocol, for the development of the project".

And the president and CEO of Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, Anna Donati , confirmed how this of the Italian Cup final is "the first stage of the Road to Zero, a long-term path to achieve the expected results".
