Game, set, match. UPPER and #RomaGiocaSostenibile together again!
From the green grass of the Olimpico rugby pitch to the Foro Italico clay tennis courts, Rome will renew its partnership with the EU-funded project UPPER.
For the 81st edition of the Internazionali d’Italia tennis tournament (May 6 to May 19, 2024) Roma Servizi per la Mobilità, under the patronage of F.I.T, Sport e Salute and Roma Capitale, is providing information to guide fans to reach the Foro Italico by public transport, on foot by bike and shared mobility. EU-funded UPPER project, Rome's first commitment in the Mission 100 Cities "Climate Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030", will be again by the Eternal City's side with the initiative #RomaGiocaSostenibile. The online information includes a downloadable map with cycling and pedestrian routes, parking for people with impaired mobility, bus, tram, and metro options as well as tips for those landing at the airport. Shared mobility operators, meanwhile, offer discounts and promotions to tennis fans.
Our common aim is to make Rome a more sustainable city, improving the quality of people’s lives through the promotion of public transport and active mobility measures. Rome is a gem and only through a sustainable transport approach can we fully appreciate it.
For those renting shared bicycles, or e-scooters, and those arriving at the Foro Italico with their bicycles and scooters, there is a reserved parking area via Roberto Morra di Lavriano (behind the petrol station) or in Via De Bosis. Four 50-seater buses will travel from Termini Station to the Forum and vice versa, available only to ticket holders and valid for the day of use. The service will start at 09:00 from Termini and at 09:45 from Foro Italico. The last bus is scheduled from Termini at 7.50 pm and from Foro Italico at 7.05 pm.
Organisers are expecting a record 350,000 tennis fans to attend the tournament
